United Way of Mahaska County prides itself on our work with our partner agencies.  Every day these nonprofits are working diligently to improve the lives of our residents in the areas of Education, Income, and Health. Below is a complete list of current UWMC partner agencies and their programs supported by United Way grants. 

Agency on Aging:
Senior Center and Home Delivered Meal Program The Senior Center provides a safe, friendly environment for Mahaska County seniors to meet, eat, and participate in social, health, and recreational programs. Home delivered meals provide seniors with regular, nutritious meals, allowing them to more easily age in place.

Crisis Intervention Services:
Shelter Support Crisis Intervention Services provides free and confidential services including emergency shelter, advocacy, and resources for people affected by sexual assualt, domestic violence, and other violent crimes.
Victim Assistance Crisis Intervention Services provides financial assistance to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other violent crimes, to help get them back on their feet.

Ecumenical Cupboard:
Emergency Assistance The Ecumenical Cupboard provides emergency food and hygeine items to qualifying people in Mahaska County.

Food Bank of Southern Iowa:
Feeding the Hungry. Food Bank of Southern Iowa provides food and related items to partner agencies for distribution to children, seniors, and families experiencing hunger.

Habitat for Humanity:
2017 Partner Family Rehab Housing. Mahaska County Habitat for Humanity is a people-to-people partnership that draws together individuals and communities to build decent, affordable housing, and provide housing repairs to families in need.

4-H Foundation:
4-H and Clover Kids Youth Development. 4-H and Clover Kids Youth Development strives "To Make the Best Better" and provides high quality, research based youth development programming for youth K-12.

Imagine the Possibilities:
IMAGINE Outreach Services. IMAGINE Outreach Services provide financial assistance to help individuals and families impacted by disabilities in accessing activities, services, equiment, and programs that they would not otherwise be able to access.

Iowa Legal Aid:
Mahaska County Financial Stability Project. Through the provision of free civil legal assistance from Iowa Legal Aid, low-income Mahaska County residents are more financially stable and able to meet their basic needs.

Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC):
Financial Assistance and Information, Referral, and Support Love INC provides information, referrals, support, and limited financial assistance to help families with basic needs, while encouraging personal responsibility and self-sufficiency.
Growing Hope These community courses offer training, support and relationships provided by trained volunteers to encourage self-worth, personal responsibility, and self-sufficiency.

Mahaska Homelessness Coalition:
Homeless Assistance. MCHC provides support to individuals experiencing homelessness in the transition to permanent housing, or finding safe, short-term shelter.

Mahaska Hospital Foundation:
Mahaska Health Partnership Pallative Care  The MHP Palliative Care program provides short-term home-based care to help manage pain and disease related symptoms, as well as emotional, spiritual, and social support for patients who do not qualify for home healthcare services and are not ready for hospice care.

Bus Stop Learning Garden The Bus Stop Learning Garden seeks to engage school-aged youth in the gardening experience.

YMCA of Mahaska County:
3rd Grade Swim Lessons Provides Mahaska County 3rd graders with one session of free swim lessons to help them develop lifelong swimming skills, as well as learn self-confidence, patience, and the value of determination.
Healthy Living The YMCA Healthy Living Program offers supportive services for memebers and guests seeking to engage in personal fitness, group exercise, and lifestyle coaching in pursuit of a more balanced spirit, mind, and body.
Early Learning The YMCA Early Learning Program provides quality, early childhood education and care for Mahaska County families.
Summer Camp The YMCA Summer Camp provides a summer of new experiences and charachter development opportunities in a camp setting for Mahaska County school-aged youth.
