Difficulty Assistance Grants

Difficulty Assistance Grants, previously referred to as "Special Grants", are intended to help with unexpected needs. Nonprofits often encounter unforseen events that put additional strain on their budgets, or have a growing need that can cause funds to run dry towards the end of the year. This grant is designed to help ease those burdens.UWMC's Difficulty Assistance Grants should not be a go-to for program funding every year. If your request is a cost that occurs annually, we prefer it be made during our annual community investment process in December.

Recipients of Difficulty Assistance Grant funds will be required to present a report on the use of these funds to be shared with the United Way Board of Directors. Grant requests may be submitted by any Mahaska County 501(c)(3) organization.
Please Note: United Way of Mahaska County will not be taking applications for 2016 Difficulty Assistance Grants.
