United Way of Mahaska County kicked off the 2005 Community Campaign at the Oskaloosa Indians’ home football game. Their 21 member agencies, board members, and campaign cabinet members distributed United Way brochures, pom-pons, stickers NFL schedules, and NFL hats to community members as they entered the stadium. There were 42 lucky winners of official NFL mini helmets United Way gave away. Team United Way took to the track led by Jill Dursky and Julie Hyland as the 21 members ageices were represented and Burdette Brown told the spectators about each agency. United Way volunteer board members and campaign cabinet members were also announced and thanked for their support. Carol Bates, Board President pledged her support and asked others to join her in giving generously to United Way of Mahaska County. Campaign Chair, Jeff Morris, addressed the crowd explaining the benefits of United Way and announced this year’s goal of $300,000 asking for the community’s support. Thoughout the game, Team United Way members were seen throughout the stadium, children were waving their United Way pom-pons and Bates and Morris tossed United Way t-shirts into the crowd.
